Tuesday, October 2, 2012 @ 7:30 PM, City Performance Hall

Dallas Chamber Symphony will host globetrotting pianist, Alessio Bax, in a recital at the Dallas City Performance Hall on Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30pm. Bax’s performances have received international attention after his first-prize-winning performance at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2000. Bax brings this extensive pianistic experience to Dallas in a performance of Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and Revel. Be sure to meet him after the concert during a CD signing event in the CPH lobby. Join Bax as he gives his City Performance Hall debut performance in an unforgettable evening of masterly pianism.

Although his stunning virtuosity and musical flair are known around the world, as an alumnus of the SMU Meadows School of the Arts, and now distinguished teaching faculty, Dallasites consider him a local. This past summer, Bax participated in nine different festivals in the U.S. and Spain, including first appearances at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, and a return to the Bard Music Festival. Bax’s most recent disc in his acclaimed discography, “Rachmaninov: Preludes and Melodies” (Signum Records), received critical praise across the board. Classics Today hailed it as “impassioned, world-class Rachmaninov,” and American Record Guide designated it as a “Critics’ Choice 2011.”

The recital is presented in the newly completed City Performance Hall — an acoustically state-of-the-art facility. It was built to provide an exceptional and intimate concert experience, bringing every patron close to the musical action. The new hall boasts innovative striking LED lighting, comfortable common areas, concessions and convenient parking. This is the must-see recital of the season in this exciting new space.
