DCS Live! Partners

Boys and Girls Clubs of Dallas

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Dallas (BGCD) serve at-risk youth with a variety of programs. The DCS has enjoyed having BGCD students in the concert hall and looks forward to providing dedicated concerts for this population through the NEA Our Town Grant and other initiatives.

The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center

Thanks to the support of the Texas Commission on the Arts “Arts Respond” Grant, guests at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center enjoyed a summer series of Monday night concerts in 2015. Assessments indicate the programming successfully helped Bridge guests relax and constructively use their after-curfew hours. Night staff indicated benefits extended past the programming and that residents looked forward to the same.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit

The NEA Our Town Grant “Taking it to the Streets”, designed in partnership with the City of Dallas, is encouraging Dallas residents and guests to use public transportation and enjoy informal music engagement at or near DART venues. Concerts are programmed from October 2016-March 2018.

The Dallas Chamber Symphony invites community partners to help us meet the required 1:1 match of this generous $50,000 award. Contributions accepted through December 31, 2016. Please contact Robin Korevaar at 214.449.1294 x20 for details.

Dallas County Juvenile Department

The Dallas Chamber Symphony is excited to work with Dallas County Juvenile Department staff to provide music concerts for at-risk youth in their programs and to assist with that department’s goals to move youth out of the system. Decreasing recidivism by promoting self-awareness and functional behavior are proposed goals for this concert series, which will begin in late fall of 2106.

Parkland Memorial Hospital

The NEA Our Town Grant “Taking it to the Streets”, designed in partnership with the City of Dallas, supports public concerts and outreach to those typically unable to partake of concerts for financial, health or other reasons. Parkland Memorial Hospital is thrilled to be selected as a community partner for a series of three concerts in winter of 2016 (accessible by the DART Green Line and open to the public). Concerts will be held in the atrium or cafeteria of the new Parkland building, and are hoped to be a catalyst for future music programming there. Concerts are programmed from November 2016-January 2017.
